Who is Vinny?
I came to the wine industry as a student and a consumer. In doing that, I have come to honor and admire those farmers whose practices support the land’s vitality, for our kids’ kids and beyond. As I look at my two granddaughters, it is vitally important to me to instill in all of us, the need for us to be Earth-wise today, tomorrow and beyond. This, so our grandchildren and their grandchildren will thrive on a beautiful, healthy Earth. This is important to me as I look at the grandchildren I love.
During this adventure, my love of fine wines and travel has taken me to some of California and Oregon’s premiere vineyards and wineries. I am an avid cyclist, and have enjoyed riding through the magnificent vineyards of the Pacific Coast as well as through the rolling hills near my home in Westchester County, New York, while I pursue my thirst for wine education.
I’m also no stranger to distribution. In the very early ’80s, I introduced organic and natural breads to the mainstream NYC market on a major distribution system. I was ahead of the curve in the Northeast and people told me I was crazy (“Organic…what’s that, dirt?”). With the introduction of natural and organic; along with other innovations; by seeking out niche markets; and by fulfilling the customers’ desire for better quality and specialized products, I was able to bring a bakery distribution company from #14 to #1 in New York City. It is, however, my love of the Earth, wine and travel which bring me to where I am today.
With the experience and ability to see things in hidden places, I envision marvelous opportunities for ConsciousWine within the organic and bio-dynamic world. In working with the wineries that support these practices, I see a promising future for the consumer and those wineries. I bring my knowledge and experience to the financial and legal aspects of ConsciousWine, to help determine the most advantageous demographics and to seek out and educate new consumers.
As a father of three daughters and a doting grandfather to two beautiful, little girls, I am passionate about educating my friends and the world about eco-practices at home and in their communities.
