Part of a holistic farm mentality includes a dynamic relationship between farm and farmer. The same way animals and biodiversity can strengthen a farm’s immune system, there’s something about the farmer living there that kicks it up a notch.
Through patient observation and discovering the farm’s natural assets, the farmer can learn to work within the limits of that place in such a way that they use the natural resources efficiently, grow products in affinity with their terroir (the unique personality of that particular place), and do not cause extra stress on their neighbors – a sustainable act!
