A happy worker is an important ingredient in making vital, quality products.
I was visiting a Napa winery that told me, after harvest the full time vineyard workers get a month-off, paid vacation. After that month, they have jobs to come back to which includes a living wage and medical benefits. I know people who would buy this winery’s wine just because of that.
Social justice issues are big and I think real environmental sustainability is not possible without social justice.
We have a lot of work to do. Luckily some wineries are on the right path and provide good models.
