Conscious Wine and a Movie - August 31st, 2010
On line at Ashland’s Noble Coffee for a refill, I was talking to a friend about filming our first ‘ConsciousWine and a Movie’ episode. A guy standing next to us blurts out, ‘What should I drink with Rambo 2? After a short pause, I bust a vocal move and say, ‘something bold, intense, strong and [...]

Wine ‘n Lemon - August 6th, 2010
Foods and flavors can alter one’s experience of a wine, sometimes dramatically. Last week I posted a video with fellow wine lover all-star Beverly McKenzie, who runs the wine department at Ashland, OR’s Chateaulin Restaurant. We tasted bread with goat cheese and later in the video, olives, … and noticed how it changed our experience [...]

On a hot’s summer’s afternoon, on the bustling streets of downtown Ashland (home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), I strolled into local dining mecca Chateaulin to meet up with a favorite local wine & foodie, Beverly McKenzie. Biodynamic Wine from Cowhorn Vineyards - June 20th, 2009
I recently visited Bill Steele of Cowhorn Vineyards in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley (a solidly under the radar viticultural area). When one discovers how young their vines are, paired with how good their wines are, the question becomes, ‘what’s up with that’? Answer #1: Biodynamically farmed grapes made according to Demeter standards so the wine can be labelled as Biodynamic® Wine.

Taste without waste! - June 19th, 2009
Wooldridge Creek Winery, in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley, is hitting a home run on the sustainability train. They’re reducing the waste of packaging bigtime. The Ashland Daily Tiding’s article, ALL THE TASTE WITHOUT THE WASTE, tells the story. Three local area restaurants (Standing Stone Brewery, Kaleidoscope Pizza, and 4 Daughters Irish Pub) are hoppin’ on the train. By the way, Wooldridge Creek passes the test on the ConsciousWine criteria.

Organic Value at Ashland’s Shop’n Kart - June 1st, 2009
What would a wine blog be without words on wines? My intention will not be to fill you with descriptive words (although often I won’t be able to help myself), but to offer ideas on what’s new, a good buy, a good story, or something I haven’t thought of yet. With each review will be a score whose meaning can be found in My Scoring System.
