  • Wine ‘n Lemon - August 6th, 2010

Foods and flavors can alter one’s experience of a wine, sometimes dramatically. Last week I posted a video with fellow wine lover all-star Beverly McKenzie, who runs the wine department at Ashland, OR’s Chateaulin Restaurant. We tasted bread with goat cheese and later in the video, olives, … and noticed how it changed our experience [...]

  • A Flavor Altering Wine Experience - July 28th, 2010

On a hot’s summer’s afternoon, on the bustling streets of downtown Ashland (home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), I strolled into local dining mecca Chateaulin to meet up with a favorite local wine & foodie, Beverly McKenzie.  I asked her if she would do a quick video with me and off we went onto the [...]

  • What I learned in Walla Walla - June 30th, 2010

The Wine Blogger’s Conference 2010 was a whirlwind. A delightful, delicious whirlwind of wine, people, laptops, twittering, clicking cameras, great food, networking, and more. I learned a lot, probably even more than I know, and had a ridiculously good time. I’d say the only thing that was missing was time to exhale. I say that [...]

  • Organic Wine & Salmon - June 5th, 2009

Salmon on the BBQ marinated with orange juice, garlic, soy sauce and pepper was a winner on its own. Kicking it up 3 notches was accomplished thanks to it’s outstanding complement. We’re talking about wine since this IS a wine blog! Domaine de Montlaville, Macon Villages (100% Chardonnay) from France’s Burgundy region was the wine of the night. Gorgeous balance and flavors, and truly great with this salmon and its marinade. Imported by Jenny & Francois Selections, whose wines have been nothing less than great finds and ConsciousWines to the core. $16.50/bottle. Jeff’s rating: 8.

  • How I Got Started - April 1st, 2009

My Mom & Dad went to Italy two years in a row when I was 12 & 13. That led to a bottle of wine on the dinner table every night. In high school, I was blessed with a mythology teacher who dated a friend of mines’ Mom, who was French… and of course could [...]
