The Sustainability Car

Sustainability… all of a sudden everybody’s doing it!  Large, small, corporate or family farm the word sustainable is the marketing popsicle of the moment. Salmon-Safe and LIVE are two programs that are positive support for developing a commitment to moving in a sustainable direction. BUT, they are about movement towards sustainability, and are different than the standards of ConsciousWine. They do not necessarily indicate who has been, and continues to be, stewards of the land and truly have sustainability in the driver’s seat.

The image of a car allows an interesting opportunity to look at the priority sustainability has for a particular winery.

Is sustainability,

• in the driver’s seat
• in the passenger seat
• in the back seat
• in the trunk
• something you stop and talk to when you see it by side of the road
• something you wave at when you drive by it
• something you don’t notice that you just passed
