Maysara
At the end of a great visit to Maysara Winery, just outside of McMinnville, OR, I was given two leftovers to enjoy for a night cap. I arrived home two days later on Friday with the quarter filled bottles still in my car. They went to the fridge and reappeared for final consumption on Sunday eve. That’s five days after opening. No fancy gasing, just a mostly empty bottle with a little wine in it, hanging around for five days. The two wines were their Pinot Blanc and Rose. Guess what? Both drank just fine on Sunday night. Plenty of fruit on the nose and the palate, with good clean finishes.
I think there’s no question that there’s a strong immune system in the soil those grapes came from. Maysara’s estate is Demeter Certified Biodynamic®. They have the largest amount of acreage and tonnage of Biodynamically farmed grapes in the state. In addition to making their own wine, they sell Biodynamic grapes to about a dozen producers in Oregon. Those wines are mostly labelled Momtazi Vineyard, the family name.
